Origin: South East Asia
Sunlight: I like it when I’m placed in an area of well lit, indirect sunlight for long periods of time, however low light not so much and also direct light as the latter will cause my leaves to scorch.
Temperature: I enjoy the warm areas of your home, but ideally I’d need regular misting as I’m used to the humidity, so I would benefit from being placed on a tray of wet pebbles.
Please keep me away from opening doors and draughts.
Growth: In my natural environment it is known that some alocasia can reach heights of around 4 metres, but indoors, around 2ft is more likely.
Alocasia have a dormant period where my leaves will fade and die, when this happens, I will require less water, so moisten my soil from time to time.
Toxicity: Keep me out of reach from children and pets,
Watering: Check the soil regularly and allow around the top 2 inches to dry out before watering. This may need to take place more regularly during the warmer months, this can be tested with your finger.
Feed: Feed me during spring and summer with a general houseplant fertilizer. Avoid feeding me during winter, I’ll even require less water during these months too.
